QAPI STARR Program

What is QAPI STARR?
The STARR program is designed to advance training of staff to improve retention and resiliency. The QAPI STARR Ladder program offers education and training to SNF leaders to prepare them to guide QAPI practices throughout the facility, including facilitation of staff training. ECRI will collaborate with leaders on-site to discuss implementation of QAPI best practices and strategies to improve QAPI programs within their organization. The IPC STARR Ladder program aims to improve staff knowledge and application of QAPI practices to enhance delivery of resident-centered care.


What will my staff learn in the QAPI STARR Program?
Phase 1:

E-Learning Certificate of Completion Training Modules
Course One: Introduction to QAPI in skilled nursing facilities (~35 minutes)
Course Two: QAPI data (~35 minutes)
Course Three: Root Cause Analysis (~35 minutes) 
Course Four: Feedback and monitoring (~35 minutes) 

Phase 2:

Onsite Workshop Number 1 – Education and training for the QAPI representative

Phase 3:

Onsite Workshop Number 2 – Support QAPI representative through a staff training skills session


Who can participate in the STARR QAPI Program?
Anyone from Certified Nursing Assistants to Dietary Services to Facilities. We encourage anyone with an interest in Quality Improvement Projects to attend. Participants do not need a minimum education to enroll. 


How long does the QAPI STARR program take?
The duration of QAPI STARR is up to the participant, but past participants have taken as little as 3 months to complete QAPI STARR.


Do QAPI STARR Champions receive anything for participation?
QAPI STARR Champions receive a Certificate of Completion signed by Dr. Osevala, as well as a Letter of Completion and a pin.
