IPC STARR Program
What is the STARR Ladder Program?
The STARR program is designed to advance training of staff to improve retention and resiliency. This program was designed by the Southcentral LTC RISE Team to provide frontline staff the opportunity to become champions in their facility of Infection Prevention in both Skilled Nursing Facilities and Personal Care Homes. The IPC STARR Ladder Program aims to establish an “IPC Champion” role at each facility to ensure there is oversight of IPC practices and staff training, targeted review and improvements of IPC policies and procedures, and administration support for IPC implementation. The program also offers a pathway for professional development in IPC for participating champions.

Phase 1: E-Learning Certificate of Completion Training Modules
Phase 2: Onsite Workshop Number 1 – Education and training for the IPC champion
Phase 3: Onsite Workshop Number 2 – Support IPC champion through a staff training skills session"
Who can participate in the STARR Infection Prevention and Control STARR Program?
Anyone from Certified Nursing Assistants to Med Techs to Housekeeping! We encourage anyone with an interest in Infection Prevention and Control to attend. Participants do not need a minimum education to enroll.
How long does the Infection Prevention and Control STARR program take?
The duration of IPC STARR is up to the participant, but past participants have taken as little as 3 months to complete STARR IPC.
Do STARR IPC Champions receive anything for participation?
IPC STARR Champions receive a Certificate of Completion signed by Dr. Osevala, as well as a Letter of Completion and a pin.
