Living With Dementia: A Community Education Series

We understand support is crucial for people living with dementia, but especially for their loved ones and care partners. Penn State College of Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine has an upcoming education series on dementia for the community to join. There are different options to get involved that can best fit your schedule: Virtually and In-Person. If you're a facility or community center interested, you can also host a watch party!

This program is designed for: family care partners (also known as caregivers), friends and family members, and individuals supporting someone living with dementia.  No previous dementia-care experience is needed.

Host A Watch Party

How?

If you are a community facility such as a library, community center, Long-Term Care Facility, or local organization - you are elligble to become a watch party host. All that is required is proper technology and space to host your community for a viewing of the virtual series. You can pick and choose what dates you want to host based on the virtual schedule above. All watch parties must host at least one event for each session (a total of 4 watch parties minimum).

Why Host a Watch Party?

  • Bring practical dementia education closer to home

  • Connect care partners, families, and people living with dementia with useful information and resources from memory care experts
  • Create a comfortable place for learning, conversation, and community connection
  • Increase awareness of dementia resources available for your community
  • Expand access for people who may prefer a local, in-person group experience

Hosting is Designed to Be Simple

You do not need to be a dementia care expert.  Watch Party Hosts provide a welcoming space and basic technology to participate in the program.  The Living With Dementia team provides host guidance, orientation, educational programming, and support to prepare your site.
